Thomas E. Sheffield

Biography

Mr. Sheffield was born in Pasadena, Texas in 1963. A lifelong resident of the Houston and Galveston Bay area, Mr. Sheffield has been practicing law since 1990 and has devoted his practice exclusively to matters of eminent domain, representing both landowners and condemning authorities in statutory condemnation cases and in inverse condemnation cases involving regulatory takings. His clients include real estate investment trusts, many nationwide companies and individual landowners across the State of Texas.

 

Mr. Sheffield is a frequent lecturer in matters of eminent domain and has spoken widely to landowners’ organizations and to industry participants. Mr. Sheffield is among America’s Best Lawyers in the eminent domain practice area, an unsolicited distinction he has held since the practice area was recognized in 2006.

 

Mr. Sheffield graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Plan II) with honors in 1986. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, JD, 1990, with honors.
